When opening .CSV File All Data Appears in One Column
When uploading a CSV file of data into 4Degrees, the separator must be a comma.
Semicolons are often used instead of commas (";" instead of ",") in many European locations. Because of that, European customers can sometimes run into an error when uploading data. Luckily, there is an easy fix for this.
When working with a CSV file it is possible to find data contained within and automatically replace it. Find & Replace is used for just this. You can access it from the Edit > Find & Replace menu or by pressing Ctrl-F on the keyboard (see below)
Enter the phrase or word you are looking for (";") and the corresponding one to replace it with (","). Clicking "Replace All" will replace all occurrences of the ";" with the replacement ",".
You will then import or copy/paste the CSV file into a Google Sheet in your G-Drive. If you do not currently have a Google account, it is easy to set up and free. The steps are outlined here. (the above step of finding/replacing can also be completed in your Google Sheet).
Now, select column A and click the data drop-down menu at the top. Under "data", choose "split text to columns" with the chosen separator being commas. See an example in Excel below, but also doable in Google Sheets.
Now download the file as a CSV.
At this point, the file should be properly formatted and ready to upload!
