How long will it take to sync my email?

In most cases, you can expect 4Degrees to finish the initial sync of your email account in 1-2 days. The length of time it will take to sync your email account primarily depends on two factors:

1. The quantity of interactions tied to your email account

Upon onboarding, our product analyzes each of your historical interactions - using each to generate new contacts, add interactions to existing contacts, and run some of our advanced analytics (e.g., relationship scoring).  The more interactions there are (either due to high volume in a short period, or because you've used that email account for an extended period of time), the more time our system will take to process it.

2. The underlying email service your team uses (i.e., Gmail or Microsoft Exchange).

Gmail enables us to capture information from email, calendar, and contacts more rapidly, whereas Microsoft limits the pace that we can sync your information. As a result, it takes longer for us to complete the initial sync for a Microsoft Exchange-based email address.

In an extreme case (where you have a very high volume email account based on Microsoft Exchange, that has been used for a long period of time), the sync may take up to 4-5 days to fully complete.  However - our sync works in batches (generally in reverse chronological order) - so you should be able to begin working with a meaningful number of contacts in our system well before then.

If it's been 24 hours and you aren't seeing any contacts in your system, it's possible that there may be some issue preventing us from syncing your email correctly - in that case, please reach out to us and we will assist you!
