Why isn't a Company or Deal / List Record getting enriched?

At 4Degrees, we enrich Company and Deal / List records with critical information (descriptions, locations, prior interactions, funding history) so you spend your time on what matters.  We typically source this data from a combination of 3rd party data sources (that specialize in the provision of data about companies) and our own technology.

The most important identifier that our system uses to figure out what data we can pull about the company is their website.  Oftentimes we'll be able to detect the company's website on our own (based on your team's contacts at that company, or the data sources described above).  We'll use that website as a way for us to look up the company with our enrichment sources, from which we'll supply any information we can find. Note: we don't scrape the company website directly as of today - but instead as a unique identifier for the company itself in our data sources.

If the record does not have a website attached to it, we'll next look for a match based on the name of the company and attempt to enrich the record if we can find one that seems to be the right fit.

So if a Company or Deal / List record isn't currently enriched:

1. Check the website field for the company.  If it's blank or incorrect, replace it with the correct URL and then refresh the page.  Our system will detect the presence of that new URL, and use it to see if it can find an enriched record for you.

2. Check if the spelling of the company's name is slightly off.  Given we'll use the company's name as another way of trying to match to the right set of enriched data, this can be another cause.  If that's the case, you can edit the company's name by hovering over it and using the pencil icon.  Another variant of this might be if there are multiple company records that represent the same company (each with slightly different spellings / versions of the name) - in which case you may want to merge them.
